Protect Orange County is a group of concerned residents working to prevent the CPV Valley fracked gas power plant from ever being built.  We have reached out to other area groups and have organized informational meetings, vigils, and weekly pickets at the site in an attempt to alert the local community to the fact that our local town planning board (Town of Wawayanda, New York State) has granted approval to CPV, a venture capital firm owned by international investors (Global Infrastructure Partners) to build a 650 megawatt electrical generating plant that would be powered by fracked gas  and diesel fuel oil. Many area residents are still unaware of CPV’s plans, and of the devastating impact that this power plant, if built, would have on the surrounding area.
